Green Iguana PVC Cage
_____INFO ON CAGE. CLICK 'VIEW MORE'______ Jones is a 8 Year old Green Iguana. I've had him since he was a wee little guy, he's very spunky, and a vivid fan of Heavy Metal. He weighs about 20lbs, and is roughly 5'8 in length. An Overview of my homemade PVC pipe cage made for my adult green iguana. It's about 5'x5'2.5'x4'x2.5' making it a perfect corner cage. It's also roughly 6.5 feet high. I used 1.5inch pipe as a frame using self tapping screws to secure them together. The matting is just regular plastic mesh for the sides (carrys his weight fine) and metal mesh for the sections that the lights are on (the plastic mesh WILL melt under heat lamps). And zipties keep the mesh in place. His humidity is kept in check by consist spraying, and if it gets too bad, a humidifier. All the woods was cleaned before hand, and astro-turf is cleaned when needed. I want to make a new floor that can hold a better substrate for him in the near future. I am not sure the exact price of this cage, due to the discount my dad got on all the piping from his work. But I'm estimating it's a pretty high price compared to a wood one. But the great thing about this one is, when I move, I can take it apart into sections, and build it again. I DO NOT have plans for it, since it was a pretty much built upon chicken scratch and chalk drawings.

My Custom Iguana Cage
This is my red iguana Hercules. My girlfriend and I designed and built this cage to meet the needs of a medium to large sized iguana. It is made out of a steel frame with plywood back, bottom, and top which are all stained and sealed. The sides and the doors are plexi-glass. We installed a platform made of plywood which is covered in green outdoor carpet which is also found on the bottom. The brown outdoor carpet is wrapped around a PVC pipe. The waterfall is there due to the great idea suggested by my girlfriend to drill a hole in the back of a food dish so that it ponds on his level. The left light is a regular halogen, there is a full spectrum strip light, and a mega-ray bulb on the left. Thanks to mega-ray for building the greatest reptile bulb, and also to T and K welding services for creating the frame.

Green Iguana Care, Feed + Eat - IguanaHandbook.Blogspot.com
IguanaHandbook.BlogSpot.com Interesting Facts about The Iguana Here are some things you might want to know about iguanas 1) They are better suited to eating plants -- some sources still continue to say that iguanas are omnivores. To say that iguanas will benefit from eating both plant and animal products would be mistake. This is because the metabolism of the iguana is better suited to absorbing plant proteins. The proteins found in animal products are just too complex to be properly utilized by iguanas. This means that not all proteins can be absorbed by their bodies as nutrients. So what happens to the unabsorbed proteins? Well, it is usually stored as uric acid. This uric acid can have very harmful effects on your iguana. A build up of uric acid can cause gout. Getting rid of animal protein can also be very hard work for an iguana's kidneys. This means that feeding animal products to your iguana may cause it to have kidney problems. This shortens the iguana's life. 2) Iguanas can be trained -- many people think that iguanas are stupid animals. However, people who own iguanas can actually attest to the opposite. A pet iguana can be trained to do many different things. Some people have toilet-trained their iguanas. Other people have trained their iguanas to do different types of tricks. Some iguanas can even find their way home! These feats attest to the fact that iguanas are far from stupid. Sometimes, people just tend to judge other creatures as being lower than them ...

Mr. Wizard, my Green Iguana, comes when called!
see below...My Iguana, (RIP) comes when called, he is soo cute.. Many ppl are asking about his lighting and food, cage, etc.. see below for that info.. Lighting.. I used a UVA/UVB day bulb, UVA/UVB night bulb, and a 60W ceramic heater over the winter. UVB bulbs are EXTREMELY important. Food... Igs like a variety of food, Mr. Wizard loved zucchini, sweet potatoes (in moderation), blueberries (moderation), kale, pepper, dandelion greens, cactus flower, red beets, arugula, green beans, peas, collard greens, turnip greens, peas, legumes, strawberries, mango, grapes, snow peas, tofu, carrots, bean sprouts, raspberries, bananas (on occasion), apples, peaches, kiwi, watermelon, etc. and occasionally I fed him things like brown rice and whole wheat bread, but very seldom. I also used a calcium powder over his food every day. Cage.. I had him in a 20 gallon long until he was about 1.5-2, then got a larger 3.5 foot cage until he was about 5, then got him a 6 foot long cage...

Richard Dawkins: Distribution of Life: The Iguanas of Galápagos

As we walked with the guided parties over the islands, Josh took every opportunity to film the wildlife. Occasionally he would turn the camera on me, and I would ad lib a few words about whatever animals we were looking at. These 'vignettes' were unscripted and unrehearsed, and there was no time for any "Take 2" repetitions, because the guided walk was moving on." RIP Evil Iguana Productions
9/5/08 Dear Friends, The reason we have not released any new videos this past couple of weeks was because we where busy planning for a Harry Potter Spoof. Unfortunetly during the recent filming something went wrong. I'm not going to say what has happened yet because we are not entirely sure if those invovled are going to alright. It is possible we caught what happened on film and may put it up on our youtube page if we feel it is appropriate to show..when I recieve more news I will inform everyone of exactly what happened, but until then I would just like to say RIP Evil Iguana Productions 9/6/08 Dear EIP Fans, The footage has been recovered and we have been given permission to upload it. After viewing the tape ourselves the incident it shockingly very clear and we feel we would like to show everyone exactly what has happened last night. We are going to cut together the parts we feel are appropriate to be shown and will have it uploaded hopefully within the next 24 hours Directed/Edited By: Allen Murphy Starring: Kyle Bridges Craig Deering Dan Drake Carsten Engerbretsen Lars Heemskerk Joe Korbel Allen Murphy Make-up: Allen Murphy (Even though this movie is called RIP Evil Iguana Productions and we sent out scary e-mails to attempt some viral marketing we will continue to make more videos. except for harry potter)

Iguana - Iguana / Southampton Blues / Price Of Love
This video features the first three tracks taken from side 1 of this great LP. The various images used within this video are taken from photos and scans of my original vinyl LP jacket/cover/labels, "Iguana - Iguana" on Lion Records LN-1011. Not to be confused with American outfit of the same name, mysterious British band "Iguana" was formed in Southampton in early 1970s to release one excellent album and then disappear without a trace. The core of the band was guitarist/vocalist Bruce Roberts, bass-player John Cartwright and drummer Pete Hunt. The trio was augmented by strong dual brass-section -- Ron Taylor on alto sax and tambourine and ' Chris Gower on trombone. The solid presence of horns together with excellent songwriting is what makes Iguana's only offering truly unique. Despite the album being released on the well-known Polydor label, it quickly became one of its most obscure items, since for some strange reason nobody was interested in the great blend of loud jazz-rock and energetic heavy rock stuffed with progressive elements. The sound of Iguana is rich and colourful, based on permanent juxtapositions of heavy, some what funky guitar sound and jazzy saxophone riffs -- most of the songs are catchy and easy-to-get-into, in spite of their complex structures. Though most of the tracks are vocal-driven, there is enough space for adventurous instrumental excursions, the band achieves a perfect balance between song-oriented stuff and sophisticated progressive ...
